About

Natalja Safronova (also Nat) is a London based Director of Photography best understood through her passion for adventure, travel and crafting worlds full of colour.

With experience across a diverse range of projects, including Fiction, Documentary Films, Music Videos, Commercials, and Moving Image, Natalja brings a unique perspective to each project she works on.

Her big love for Wong Kar Wai’s cinema means she will try and sneak in a pop of colour (or a few) into any production.

Check out her Channel 4 series How to Be a Person here for an example of how she tackles colour. The series has won a BAFTA for a Short Form Programme in 2023.

Natalja describes herself as a part time nomad, having travelled around the world (50 countries) and having shot in places like Iraq, India, Nepal, China, UAE and around Europe, Natalja is used to thinking on her feet. Her ability to confidently manage local crews and navigate unpredictable environments makes her equally comfortable in a London studio, a Middle Eastern desert, or a Colombian jungle.
